Good day dear friends.
I thank you all for your prayers for Arnie Burtschell; Daryl saysArnie is in stable condition but worries remain about blood on thebrain, a punctured lung, two broken ribs. Arnie was a cyclist hit bya Suburban in Monterrey, California.
Also, I ask prayers for the family of Willie Rodriguez, a longtimemember of La Trinidad UMC in San Antonio. Willie died yesterday.
Here is our study guide from yesterday (Sorry I did not have time toshare a devotional): David had a faith about God's strength, power, and presence. Part of what we are called to do has a lot to do withthe way we respond. Where are you?
In Psalm 91 we find that faith mentioned, and honestly, most of thePsalms of songs of faith:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in theshadow of the Almighty, 2 will say to the LORD, "My refuge and myfortress; my God, in whom I trust." 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence; 4 he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will findrefuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. 5 You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. 8 You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.9 Because you have made the LORD your refuge, the Most High yourhabitation, 10 no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near yourtent. 11 For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you inall your ways.
Recently I was at the bedside of a man recovering from open heartsurgery and in the midst of his pain he asked if I could read to himfrom this Psalm. Tears of joy and comfort flowed from his eyes as heheard this reassuring words. Look again at all the words and focuson the strength and protection David felt God offers to allwho "dwell in the shelter of the Most High and abide in shadow of theAlmighty." Do you remember days of walking with your mom or dad, seeing their shadow on the ground and knowing that no one noranything could harm you because you were with them? The same andmore so is true as we walk in faith with God.
PRAYER: Loving God we thank You for always being with us. Guide us and strengthen us. Let us live a life of faith. In Jesus' Name, amen.
Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
