Praise the Lord, Even on Your Couch!

Image from youtube.com

Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song,    his praise in the assembly of the faithful.  Let Israel be glad in its Maker;    let the children of Zion rejoice in their King.  Let them praise his name with dancing,    making melody to him with tambourine and lyre.  For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;    he adorns the humble with victory.  Let the faithful exult in glory;    let them sing for joy on their couches.  Let the high praises of God be in their throats    and two-edged swords in their hands,  to execute vengeance on the nations    and punishment on the peoples,  to bind their kings with fetters    and their nobles with chains of iron,  to execute on them the judgement decreed.    This is glory for all his faithful ones. Praise the Lord! (Psalm 149)

It's a mandate for creation to praise the Lord.  But the Lord and the psalmist would like for it to be a pleasure and a joy to praise the Lord.  Those in love with someone know to praise actions they take on our behalf; a husband should never take his wife for granted, nor should a wife take her husband for granted.  Everything done for us in love deserves a thank you and a praise.  How much more God and all that God does for us?  The psalmist loved God so much he praised him all the time; in worship with others, in private worship alone, with music, even sitting on his couch.  God takes pleasure in us and we should take pleasure in Him.

Take a moment to thank God right now and to later on just praise Him the best way you know how!

PRAYER:  We praise You, loving God, for all Your lovingkindness to us.  We entrust to You all our cares and worries and thank You for their outcomes.  Bless us and let us bless You and Yours; in Christ Jesus we pray, amen.

Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!  Praise Him! Praise Him! All ye little children; God is love, God is love!
