How Awesome is the Lord!

Mornings with God bless your day; may your day be blessed! Psalm 8 tells us why... 1 O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; 4 what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? 5 Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor. 6 You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

I spent some wonderful time with my six month old granddaughter, Eliana, yesterday morning. She, like all kids her age, is drawn to the iPad and all it offers. She can't yet crawl but while on "tummy time" I put on a video of "He's Got the Whole World in HIs Hands" and the brightness of her smile and her wanting to get closer to the screen made my day. She knew the song and wanted to get a better view of the animated picture of Jesus holding the world. The next video was "Jesus Loves Me" and again the same response. There is no describing the joy of a child who loves music and images and perhaps in her own way, as the psalmist says, "Out of the mouth of babes and infants You have founded a bulwark because of Your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger." There is indeed a bulwark around babes and infants whose parents and guardians guard their lives with prayer and love. The Lord is present indeed.

Look at the child or an infant, look at the clouds, look at the moon and the stars, and you will see "the work of (God's) fingers." And then look at the child again or another person and ask the question that the psalmist asks, "What are human beings that You are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?" He declares, "Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor." We have the control over the works of God's hands, all things are under our control. Indeed, yes, Sovereign God, "how majestic is your name in all the earth!"

Live a life that reflects the glory and honor of God present in your life, and what a blessing you will be to others.

PRAYER: May God's light shine brightly on you so that you may shine on those still in darkness. In Jesus' name, amen.

Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
