Good day dear friends.
Our text is from 2 Cor. 2:14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads in every place the fragrance that comes from knowing him. 15 For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; 16 to the one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? 17 For we are not peddlers of God's word like so many; but in Christ we speak as persons of sincerity, as persons sent from God and standing in his presence.
There are fragrances that we all love: coffee brewing in the morning, the smell of bacon frying as people prepare for breakfast, fresh flowers, my favorite: the smell of a box of apples when the lid is removed for the first time (yes, I worked in the produce department of a grocery store), the smell of mesquite wood as a barbecue is being prepared, and the list goes on and on. But Paul says this about our witness: Number one, we march in a "triumphal procession," meaning our posture and walk is one of victors. Using his earlier words in Romans, we should walk as those who are "more than conquerors." What an attitude to have especially in the face of life's challenges and trials. Paul further says that our knowing Christ Jesus results in our having a "fragrance." To those who come to know Christ it is a wonderful smell, a smell of life. For those who choose not to have Christ, it is the smell of death.
You and I witness best by showing who we are and Whose we are. You and I are children of the King, bought with a price, ransomed from our sins through Christ Jesus; our life should that!
PRAYER: Loving Father, thank you for the victory and life that is ours through Jesus Christ. Let us walk and live in this life with that blessed assurance that we are, through Jesus, more than conquerors in all things. May our lives spread that sweet-smelling fragrance that the world needs so desperately. In Jesus' Name, amen.
Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
