Matthew 5:8 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Jesus sets the bar high. Jesus knows our hearts and how easily they can become filled with the wrong things. Yet Jesus knew that whatever we put in our minds sets the heart. And wherever our hearts lead us determines our daily life. Jesus is saying that those who set their heart on pure things will do God-things. Those who, like Paul said, "Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Phil 4:8). Determine in your own heart today that you will seek that which blesses God and others, and others will see God in you!
Think on things that are true: God loves you, God is with you, you can serve others. Think on the honorable, that which very few do anymore, but you can, showing honor and seeking to do the honorable thing in all things. Think about what is just, seek to be one known for showing justice. And the rest of the list continues, seek to do that which makes your heart pure and the blessings will flow.
PRAYER: Loving God, help my heart seek what is Yours in my life today. Let others see You in me as I seek to be pure in heart. I ask this in Christ Jesus' precious and powerful name, amen.
