SALT AND LIGHT

Amazing God of great gifts, pour out Your grace on the needs of this dear reader; in Christ Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Here is our text for today: Matthew 5: 13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot. 14 "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. 15 No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Difference makers. To know Jesus Christ in a personal way and to follow Him daily is to be a difference maker. And does the world ever need us! Salt and light are positive images that Jesus uses to show believers how important it is to be positive about life. The illustration of being salt brings to mind flavor and how important it is to transform the bland into the tasty. In the same way, our lives can add positive flavor to the bland. The other uses of salt also apply to life situations: Insultation and preservation. How can your life do those things? And light? We know plenty of people who are walking in darkness, who cannot see the path of Christ because they are lost. A Christian, who is a difference maker will shine Christ's light to all.

PRAYER: Loving God, allow me to be salt and light for You in this world that needs You. Help my thoughts, words and actions reflect the positive and fullness of life. I ask this in Christ Jesus' powerful name, amen.

Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
