Going or Coming, God is with You!

Splendid God of grace and peace, pour out a double portion of peace on the life of this dear reader; in Christ Jesus I pray, amen.

Our text for today comes from Psalm 139: 1 God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. 2 I'm an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I'm thinking. 3 You know when I leave and when I get back; I'm never out of your sight. 4 You know everything I'm going to say before I start the first sentence. 5 I look behind me and you're there, then up ahead and you're there, too - your reassuring presence, coming and going. 6 This is too much, too wonderful - I can't take it all in! 13 Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. 14 I thank you, High God - you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration - what a creation! 15 You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. 16 Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day. 17 Your thoughts - how rare, how beautiful! God, I'll never comprehend them! 18 I couldn't even begin to count them - any more than I could count the sand of the sea. Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with you! (The Message)

No one ever cared for you like God. Some might say, "My mom did." Yes, close, but not quite. Others might say, "My dad did?' Okay, but not as much. This is what the Psalm is saying. There is no aspect of your life, warts, wrinkles, pimples and all, that God did not know or better yet, that God did not care for. God has known us since Day One. The Psalmist even says that God knows us inside and out, like an "open book." Such is the love and care of God for you and me. The Psalmist uses this as a motivation to live life with that peace and comfort of knowing that there is nowhere we can go that God does not go with us. What a difference this makes in the lives of those who take this to heart and know that anywhere they go, God is with them, and all actions, words and thoughts should reflect the presence of God with us. Does this even include behind the steering wheel of our car? Yes, especially there. Many of us tend to forget we're Christians in that spot, we have a tendency to change religions from Christian to Impatients. Don't do that, God is there too and God will bless us as we try to go from point A to point B. May God's care for us begin a new attitude on our care towards our care for others.

PRAYER: Loving God, may I live life in a way that says to You and myself, God is with me and I am lovingly and carefully being watched by God. May my actions and my words reflect the love God has for me. I ask this in Christ Jesus' precious and powerful name, amen.

Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
