WELL, GOODBYE DOLLY

Good day dear friends.

Dolly finally left us sometime in the early morning hours of today,
Thursday, July 24th. And I join the chorus of neighbors who
say, "Good riddance!" The damage to Harlingen was severe. Early
this morning I went to check on our church building and thank God the
only sign of damage I could see was that a yard sign pointing to our
Journey Day Care was knocked over. Our steeple is still standing,
there was some water that seeped into our entry ways on the eastside,
but it appears everything held well. There is no power at the church
and in most of Harlingen for that matter.

There is no power in our home yet, and as I reported we lost our
eastern side of our wooden fence. There were a couple of shingles
knocked down, and we had a mysterious floor leak in the master
bedroom leading into the bathroom. But the overall is that we're
fine and though there were some injuries, as far as I know we have
not lost any lives. A 17-yr.old in South Padre Island was knocked
off a balcony by the wind, but did not die. We thank God for His
presence with us.

I thank all of you for your prayers and thoughts, text messages,
emails, and calls.

Nellie and I are now with our daughter and son-in-law in Mission,
Texas; they have power and we enjoyed our first hot meal in two
days! We will be showering soon!

Please continue to pray for those in the affected area and the
restoration of electricity and needed supplies. On the way here to
Mission, we saw an HEB convoy of 19 wheelers, some of which said
Disaster Relief, another stainless steel water truck, all escorted by
Texas' Department of Public Safety troopers, and military Hummers. A
bit behind came another convoy of Game Wardens and their boats to
assist as needed. We thank God for those willing and ready for
partnering, as is our theme for this week.

PRAYER: Thank You, dear God, for the preciousness of life and how
you minister to us during our times of need. We cry out on behalf of
those in dire need of water, shelter, food, clothing and we praise
You for those who respond and are responding to these needs. Your
hand is in all of that, and for that we stand in awe. May Your Name
be praise now and always! In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.

Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
