LEARNING TO GIVE

Good day dear friends.
Here is our study guide for today: Wednesday: Numbers 28, 29, 30, 31 Why, do you suppose, are all these special occasions marked also by special offerings?
We are a culture that cannot celebrate anything without giving. If we get invited to a birthday party, we take a birthday gift. It's awkward for some to get an invitation that says instead of gifts, do something else. It still gives us the opportunity to give. Anniversary? Gift! Graduation? Gift! If someone dies, we give food.
There is a blessing in giving. That's a spiritual law. God teaches us that in the chapters for today. To mark God's involvement in our history, we should celebrate with an act of remembrance and with the giving of a special offering. Why do you suppose some cringe or get angry at having to give to God? Giving to God is a spiritual discipline. It is something we should be teaching our children. Most children do not automatically learn to share. And to share with God is the most important thing we can teach them.
Are you holding back from giving to God? Do you think your reason is ever really justified? Learn to give from the heart in a loving way in the way that God loves and provides for you. Teach your children the joy of giving, and be blessed in watching them be blessed.
PRAYER: God of all good things, we thank You for all You do. Help me to become more of a loving and cheerful giver for all things. Teach me to be a teacher to others, especially my children. I pray this in Jesus' name, amen.
Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
