OUTWARD SIGNS OF AN INWARD GRACE

Good day dear friends.
Today is Good Friday. As a dear friend wrote early this morning, "Good for Heaven, bad for Hell; good for me, bad for the enemy of my soul." And so it is. What will you make of this day?
A reminder: If you're a member of First UMC here in San Marcos, we have a worship service tonight at seven. If you're a member elsewhere, please find out when your service is.
Also to the members of FUMCSM: The First United Methodist Church's Easter Egg hunt, will be take place, at the Church, instead of at Pecan Park. The schedule will stay the same; games beginning at 10:00 a.m., egg hunt will start at 10:30-10:40, followed by a potluck lunch (meat will be provided). There will be lots of eggs to find!
Here is our study guide for today: Friday: Leviticus 7,8,9There is an “elevation offering” mentioned several times in these readings. Do we have something comparable?
What is mentioned in these readings is an exterior or visible sign of what should be happening inside of our spirits. The ancient way of the Jews as they offered up "Compensation" or "guilt" offerings (depending on your version of Bible you used), showed outwardly what the people should have felt inwardly. Today we celebrate what Jesus offered up as the Ultimate Sacrifice, the giving of Himself as the Paschal Lamb, He "who takes away the sins of the world." Our problem is that we tend to leave that "out there" and not in our hearts where true repentance should be taking place. God outlined for Moses and the priests all that God expected in this visible form of worship, knowing that true forgiveness and washing comes from within, when we truly repent of our sins and turn towards God.
What does this day mean for you? It is Good Friday, claimed as such by the Church to declare that Christ's death on the cross was good, not bad, because of what took place in the spiritual realm. Are you getting right with God within? Are you accepting Christ's death as your personal gift of love from God the father for you?
PRAYER: Father, today the greatest price ever paid for us took place on the trash heap outside of Jerusalem; your Son Jesus, died in my place. I am not worthy, but I ask that You help me realize all that is mine because of that death. Let my visible worship reflect the true praise that is taking place on the outside. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
