Good day dear friends.
I was out ill yesterday and did not feel up to sending a ConCafe. I will send out yesterday's study guide with no comment (I'll let you do the work) and today's:
Wednesday: Numbers 11, 12 List, from these two chapters, the instances of Moses’ troubles or complaints and God’s way of responding. What do you observe about people and about God? Thursday: Numbers 13, 14, 15The twelve spies were all working with the same data. How do you explain the different responses of the majority and the minority?
This is a foreshadowing of the David and Goliath story. The lesser challenger against the greater foe, or so it seems. Like David, the ones who saw the same things as the majority, saw it with eyes of faith. The word impossible never entered into their thinking nor should it ours when we know we have God on our side.
The people of God had the promise of the Lord to enter into this land. They had seen the hand of God providing all sorts of unexplainable things, things of sheer power, yet when they see the people of the land, they believe they are up against giants and that they themselves are grasshoppers. Isn't that funny? To see with the eyes of faith we see potential, possibility, and power. To see with human eyes, we see punyness, possible loss, and powerlessness. Which would you rather have?
In yesterday's readings you read where not all the people share the same faith in God. And not everyone sees or looks for the positive. They see only what they want to see and usually that scares them. And this carried over into this spy trip. Those who see God working among them and can believe God's stength among them will always see the positive and the possible.
How are you seeing today?
PRAYER: Loving God of power and might, let me see You in all that I face today. Give me eyes to see potential, possibility, and power. Thine is the glory in my life. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
Have a great and blessed day in the Lord!
